Non-US Citizens
Non-US citizens should check with their advisor on how to apply for a visa, as their process could differ from US students. This includes programs where US citizens do not need a visa, such as the United Kingdom.
If you will need to submit your physical passport in order to receive a visa, it is beneficial to have an alternative form of identification in case you need to travel via plane within the US as part of your visa process. Information on obtaining a driver's license or state ID card can be found on the ISSS website here.
Since each student's situation will differ based on their citizenship, program location, and visa timeline, it is imperative that you meet with an advisor early in the process. Schedule a meeting ASAP.

Dual Citizenship
Students with dual citizenship should also check with their advisor about the visa process. Depending on citizenship and passport validity, some students may not need a visa for their program.
Please note: Citizens of the United Kingdom now need a visa for study abroad in Europe post-Brexit.
